Safety instructions

Read all instructions before first use. Take extra care when children are nearby.

How warnings are marked in this manual

  • WARNING — a hazard that could cause serious injury, death, property damage or malfunction.
  • CAUTION — a hazard that could cause minor injury or damage to the product.
  • Note — useful information, not a safety hazard.

Dental work, braces and sensitivity

  • Permanent crowns: use only if the crown has been in place for at least 4 weeks, and only on the lowest intensity setting.
  • Temporary crowns, or crowns less than 4 weeks old: do not use the Smartbrush.
  • Veneers and other restorations: consult your dentist before use. You are responsible for use with any dental restoration.
  • Braces: not recommended. The TrueFit™ Mouthpiece is not designed to fit over orthodontic appliances. You can start once your braces are removed.
  • Sensitive teeth: start at the lowest speed and increase gradually. Stop and contact us if you feel discomfort.

WARNING: Electrical and battery safety

  • The Smarthandle 2 is water resistant (IP67). The Snap Charger 2, its cable and the power adapter are not. Never let them get wet, and never handle them with wet hands.
  • If the Snap Charger 2 or power adapter falls into water, unplug it at the outlet first. Do not reach into the water.
  • Use only the Snap Charger 2 and power adapter supplied by Feno. The Smarthandle 2 does not charge on the Snap Charger 1st Generation.
  • Do not use the product if the cable, plug or housing is damaged, if it was dropped and does not work properly, or if it smells, overheats or swells. Contact support.
  • The Smarthandle is sealed and contains a lithium-ion battery. Do not open, puncture or crush it, or try to replace the battery. This can cause fire, chemical burns and injury.
  • Opening or disassembling any Feno product voids the warranty.

WARNING: Use

  • Use only in the mouth, and only as described in this manual or by your dental professional. Do not use under the tongue, in the ear, nose or other sensitive areas.
  • Remove oral jewelry before use.
  • Do not use if you have an open wound in your mouth or on your tongue.
  • If you have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic or magnetic device, consult your physician or the device manufacturer before use. The Snap Charger 2 contains magnets.
  • If you have been advised to take antibiotics before dental procedures, consult your dentist or physician before use.
  • If you are being treated for any oral condition, consult your dental professional before use.
  • Do not use the Smartbrush for more than 10 sessions total per day.
  • Do not use outdoors, or where aerosol sprays are used or oxygen is administered.
  • Use only Feno Mouthpieces and accessories.
  • Do not insert objects into any opening.

WARNING: Mouthpiece breakage (choking hazard)

  • Check the TrueFit™ Mouthpiece fits well before each use. Stop using it if it no longer fits. Never run the Smarthandle without a Mouthpiece attached.
  • If the Smarthandle is dropped, replace the Mouthpiece before next use, even if no damage is visible.
  • Replace the Mouthpiece every 3 months, or sooner if worn. Do not use a Mouthpiece with crushed, bent, loose or missing bristles.
  • Clean the Mouthpiece after every use (see Cleaning and care).

Children and shared use

  • The Smartbrush is not intended for users under 13.
  • Keep children away from the product and packaging. Packaging can cause suffocation.
  • Close supervision is needed when the product is used near children or by individuals with disabilities. Individuals with disabilities should consult their dental professional before use.
  • The Smartbrush is a personal care product. It is not for use on multiple patients in dental offices or clinics. Each family member should have their own Smarthandle and Mouthpiece.
  • Do not use if you are impaired by alcohol, drugs or medication, or cannot concentrate.

Temperature

Do not expose the product to temperatures above 35 °C / 95 °F or below 0 °C / 32 °F. Do not rinse the Mouthpiece in water above 40 °C / 104 °F.

Toothpaste and cleaners

Peroxide, baking soda and other bicarbonates (common in whitening toothpastes), and abrasive or chemical cleaners, can damage the Mouthpiece and housing. Rinse thoroughly after every use if you use them.

Feno is not liable for damage to property or personal injury caused by incorrect use, or by not following this manual, the Quickstart Guide or other Feno instructions. This applies to use, charging and disposal. Incorrect use also voids any warranty.
